How To Do It
The meat is ALWAYS the hero. And I stand by this theory. However, sometimes we all love a great marinade. And I found one, thanks to my wife and www.momontimeout.com
This one reminds me of a classical steak house marinade. One that is a guaranteed winner and will always impress. Although I applied this to a Rump Steak, I can only imagine how nicely this will go down with a Sirloin or Fillet steak.
I have my own family marinade recipe that I make in 5liter batches. I might be applying these ingredients going forward.
Grab yourself a large zip lock bag, add in all the ingredients, with the steak and rest for a minimum of 4hours.
I was fortunate enough to have made and rested the steaks in the marinade for a total of 9hours. Once I placed the rump steak onto my searing hot fire, I did not need to baste the steaks again. Due to the size of the cut of Rump, I made use of my MEATERMADE meat thermometer to ensure a medium rare internal temperature. 57% internal.
As a side I skewered some button mushrooms and applied some of the same marinade once I placed the skewers onto the fire. Basting frequently, I ensure a chargrilled finish to the mushrooms.
As always, I rested the rump for a minimum of 8 minutes before carving and serving.
Rest your steak for 8min
Carve and serve with mushrooms
Ranger Tip
As per the originator’s advice, use low sodium Soy Sauce. Any other Soy sauce will make this marinade and the steak too salty.
