How To Do It
As I was out on the game farm and we are quite strict regarding open fires in our picnic spots I used around half a bag of briquettes, lit them and once they got going, I divided them into 2 separate fires. One for the Bacon Patties done in a braai grid, the other for my open-fire pan to fry my eggs.
Once the fire(s) is ready place your tri-pods in the coals, place the braai grid over the coals, turning every 5 minutes, ensuring your bacon patties go a slight crispy color.
At the same time, place some cooking oil in your pan, heat up and fry up your eggs. Make sure the yolk is soft, nothing like biting into a breakfast bun and the yolk drools down your chin. It’s a sign of a well braaied breakfast bun.
Now with your bacon patties and eggs done, brown the burger buns on either the open-fire using the braai grid or using the pan.
Building the ultimate Breaksfast Bun – Squeeze some mayo on the one side, then place your freshly braaied bacon patty, an egg, some grated cheese and top it off with some of that chakalaka sauce. Close the bun, admire for a second, and enjoy.
These Bacon Patties are such a win I cannot wait to pair it with my Meat Ranger Smash Burgers. Watch this space.
Ranger Tips:
If you braaing these out in the bush, don’t rush it. Take a step back, appreciate the birds, appreciate the moment, appreciate the view, soak it all in………………and then braai.
That take away that makes this special.
